From the Dean's Desk June-2026

As the monsoon finally returns to Mumbai and our Powai campus, I am pleased to share with you some of the significant developments and achievements from across IIT Bombay over the past month.

 

One of the highlights of June was the successful conclusion of our 5th Annual CSR Conclave 2026, which brought together around 400 participants from across the country. The Conclave provided an important platform to explore how academia, industry, and philanthropy can work together to create meaningful and scalable social impact. We are grateful to all those who contributed to making the event a success.

 

This month also brings a proud milestone for the IIT Bombay innovation ecosystem. IIT Bombay’s SINE-incubated SEDEMAC Mechatronics has achieved a market capitalisation of $1 billion, underscoring the transformative potential of deep-tech entrepreneurship emerging from our campus. It is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the strength of the innovation culture nurtured at the Institute.

 

The issue also highlights the accomplishments of our faculty, whose work continues to advance knowledge and create real-world impact. From breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and geospatial technologies to innovations in financial markets, our faculty members are helping shape solutions to some of today’s most complex challenges while reinforcing IIT Bombay’s position at the forefront of research and innovation.

 

Alongside these stories, this edition features research breakthroughs, student achievements, industry collaborations, alumni engagement initiatives, and developments across our centres of excellence and innovation hubs. Together, they reflect the energy, ambition, and collective achievements of the IIT Bombay community.

 

I invite you to engage with a few initiatives that are shaping our community’s future. The Dean ACR Annual Report 2024–25 offers a snapshot of what we have accomplished together this past year. And as part of Giving Back, please consider contributing to our Scholarships and Hostels campaigns. Each of these efforts reflects the generosity and shared commitment that make our alumni network strong.
