IIT Bombay held an alumni interactive session in Boston, USA, in collaboration with the IIT Bombay Heritage Foundation, Boston Chapter, on May 19, 2022. A significant number of alumni members between 1966 and 2021 attended the session.

Annual scholarships to support children of IITB’s non-academic staff employees

IITB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Prof. S. P. Sukhatme (Institute’s former Director and Professor Emeritus of the Department of Mech. Eng.) on Oct 11, 2022. Through this initiative, annual student scholarships for meritorious children of employees of the IITB’s non-academic staff will be established.

IITB alumni turn founding donors for C-MInDS

IITB’s alumnus Mr. Arpit Mathur (B. Tech & M.Tech, CS, 2006) emerged as one of the ‘Founding Donors’ of the Centre for Machine Intelligence and Data Science (C-MInDS) through his generous contribution.

Visiting Chair Professorship in memory of a revered IITB professor

The ‘Dr. Rinti Banerjee Visiting Chair’ will bring leading women medical researchers, academicians, industrialists, practitioners, and entrepreneurs from various corners of the world to IIT Bombay. The Chair has been established in memory of the late Professor Dr. Rinti Banerjee, an eminent researcher and professor and former head of the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering at IITB.

IITB launches a foundational initiative in the area of Digital Trust

IITB’s alumnus Dr. Viswanath Ramachandran’s (B.Tech, CSE, 1991) generous contribution has helped establish this first-of-its-kind Chair Professorship in Applied Statistics. The initiative will support education and research in Statistics and Mathematics.

IITB launches a foundational initiative in Digital Trust

IITB launched the 'IIT Bombay Trust Lab’ on September 15, 2022, established through the generous contribution by the Institute’s alumnus Dr. Shridhar Shukla (B. Tech, EE, 1983). This foundational initiative envisions strengthening the country’s digital environment and making it more trustworthy.

IITB alumni turn founding donors for C-MInDS

IIT Bombay’s Mr. Beerud Sheth (B.Tech, CSE, 1991) and co-founder of Gupshup is recognised as a ‘Founding Donor’ for C-MInDS. He has donated towards setting up the ‘Gupshup AI Conversational Lab,’ at the centre.

IITB partners with JSW Steel to establish a futuristic technology hub

On August 18, 2022, IITB signed a Memorandum of Understanding with JSW Group to establish a first-of-its-kind technology hub for research in steel manufacturing in India. The JSW Technology hub has been established through support from the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, and other industry partners.

Wife of late IITB professor donates property to the Institute

Mrs. Parvathy Subrahmonia Ayyar honoured her husband Prof. R. Subrahmonia Ayyar’s (one of the founding faculty members and the former Head of the Dept. of Civil Eng. at the Institute) memory by donating her property (two flats in Mumbai) to the Institute. Her gift will support the establishment of a Chair Professorship and the naming of a conference room in Prof. Ayyar's name in the Dept. of Civil Eng. at IITB.

The Institute’s alumnus Mr. Mohan Lakhamraju (B. Tech, CSE, 1998), became one of the ‘Founding Donors,’ through his generous donation towards the Centre for Machine Intelligence and Data Science (C-MInDS) at IIT Bombay.

IITB sets up a centre for advanced research on ageing diseases

IITB’s distinguished alumnus Mr. Sharad Sanghi (B. Tech., EE, 1989) has donated a generous amount towards the setting up of the Centre of Ageing and Neurodegenerative diseases at the Institute. The Centre envisions becoming a national leader in advanced research in this area.

IIT Bombay’s former Director sets up a Chair Professorship in Biostatics

Prof. S.P. Sukhatme, Padma Shri awardee and former Director of IIT Bombay has contributed generously towards establishing a Chair Professorship in Biostatistics. The initiative will provide a boost to this discipline as well as associated applications.

A Diamond Level Scholarship at IITB gets generous support from its alumnus

IITB alumnus, Sanjeev Nabar (B.Tech & DIIT, Mech. Eng. and ID, 1974), has graciously committed to a Diamond Level Scholarship at the Institute. The scholarship will support one meritorious student per year for a total period of 16 years.
