Nail The Prep 2022

Third-year undergraduate students from IIT Bombay have the opportunity to attend a mock internship interview program called Nail The Prep 2022. Alumni members will engage students in mock interviews and provide them with their immediate and personalized feedback. Nail The Prep allows students to prepare for their future real-life interviews by using the detailed insights provided to them by the alumni.

The mock interviews will be held in the fields of Management – Consulting, Analytics, Finance, IT/Software, FMCG, HR, and more.

Phonathon 2022

The Student Alumni Relations Cell (SARC) will organize the annual 10-day mega telephonic jam – Phonathon 2022. The event will allow students to interact with a diverse group of alumni members from all over the world via phone calls. The annual Phonathon allows students to get an insight from alumni about life after IIT Bombay, while alumni members get the most recent updates on their alma mater from current students of the Institute.

Civil Services Reunion

IIT Bombay is organizing a two/three-day reunion for our alumni members who are part of the Indian Civil Services. The festivities planned are a way for our alumni to relive their journeys at IIT Bombay, get reacquainted with their peers and hostel buddies, visit their favourite hangout spots on campus, and participate in the many fun activities organised by the IIT Bombay community.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) conclave

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) conclave will be held at IIT Bombay on July 6, 2022. The CSR conclave will serve as an opportunity for socially conscious corporates to partner with IIT Bombay on several pioneering projects the university is undertaking to address wide-ranging national and global challenges.

The CSR conclave aims to enable corporates to sharpen their CSR strategies while also helping to make their outcomes more impactful and measurable. It will also showcase cutting-edge research and infrastructure projects by IIT Bombay in the areas of climate change, health sciences, and energy, amongst many others.

Invention Factory

Invention Factory is a six-week program that brings together students from IITs pan India and gives them a unique opportunity to invent products of their choice. Students will work together in teams to develop prototypes and the “Best Inventions” will be determined by an illustrious panel of judges who will ensure that the functioning prototypes successfully meet an important societal or consumer need.

Originated in the US and conducted by IIT Gandhinagar for the past two summers under the name Invent@IITGN, this exciting invention program will be conducted by IIT Bombay as Invention Factory® @IITB under the name Invent@IITB for the first time this year.

The program began on May 19, 2022 and will see the students conceptualising and developing their prototypes. The program will end on July 1, 2022, when the winners will be announced and the prototypes developed by the students will be patented.

Inauguration of ChemE Tinkerers’ Lab

We are delighted to invite  you to the inauguration of the ChemE Tinkerers’ Lab by the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Bombay. This lab has been established through the generous funding from Alkyl Amines Chemicals Limited,  a leading manufacturer of aliphatic amines in India as part of their CSR initiative. This lab will facilitate “hands on” learning for our engineering students while also equipping them with a physical environment that is conducive for technological innovations.

Chief Guest, Padma Vibhushan awardee and Emeritus Professor of Eminence, Institute of Chemical Technology, Prof. M.M Sharma, will preside over the inaugural ceremony. Other diginatries at the ceremony include Shri Yogesh M. KothariChairman and Managing Director of Alkyl Amines Chemicals Limited, Prof. Devang Khakhar, former Director of IIT Bombay, Prof. Madhu Vinjamur, Head of Department of Chemical Engineering and Prof. Venkat Gundabala, coordinating Professor, ChemE  Tinkerers’ Lab.

IIT Bombay Alumni Interactive Dinner in Boston

IIT Bombay Chapters are established across the world and have been instrumental in establishing local communities for the welfare of the IIT Bombay Alumni. In the month of May 2022, a team from IIT Bombay, led by Director, Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, is visiting Boston to meet with alumni in the region.

    Changing Role of Chemical Engineers: Medical Technologies: Online Panel discussion by IITB Chemical Engineering Alumni

    IIT Bombay’s Chemical Engineering alumni, who have grown to become industry experts and leaders, will come together to explore the current trends and future directions of important science- and technology-driven industries and the role that IIT Bombay can play in shaping these trends.
    The latest in a series of panel discussions will focus on medical technologies and examine the state of the industry at the national and global level, explore current trends and future directions, analyse the role played by chemical engineers in developing and deploying relevant technologies and more.
    The panel discussion will feature eminent experts in medical technologies. They include:

    Tribute to Prof. Ramaswamy Subrahmonia Ayyar

    IIT Bombay and the family of late Prof. Ramaswamy Subrahmonia Ayyar, including his wife, Mrs. Parvathy Subrahmonia Ayyar, and their daughters, Mrs. Ranjani Saigal and Dr. Jayashree Subrahmonia, have come together to set up two initiatives to continue his legacy at the Institute.
    a) Instituting a Chair Professorship in the Civil Engineering Department
    b) Naming a conference Room in the Civil Engineering Department
    The late Prof. Ayyar joined IIT Bombay in 1958 and was one of the Institute’s founding faculty members. He was well-known on campus for his stellar contributions to the field of structural engineering. He had a larger-than-life personality and was deeply admired by his students for his unique teaching style. As Dean of Academic Programs, he was also instrumental in introducing several far-reaching policies that positively impacted the Institute.
