Vision
To encourage researchers, scientists, and entrepreneurs across IITs and other reputed institutes to develop breakthrough technologies and solutions that address key programs in Green Hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization.
Key Highlights
- The HSBC IITB Green Hydrogen Workshop was conducted on 27th November’ 23.
- A total of 90 participants from across the country, including students and professors attended the workshop.
- The Expressions of Interest were received from researchers across multiple institutes such as IIT Bombay, IIT Mandi, IIT Kharagpur, TIFR Hyderabad, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, IIT Kharagpur, NIT Agartala, IIT Varanasi and IISER TVM.
- Following Proposal presentations of shortlisted projects, the following projects were selected:
- Quantum-mechanical calculations for development of efficient and stable indigenous Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER) catalysts for hydrogen production via alkaline electrolyzers
- Synergizing materials with system for energy efficient magneto-electrolytic hydrogen generator
Proposed Impact
The Program aims to address significant technological and economic barriers to the widespread development and adoption of Green Hydrogen. Some of the potential beneficiaries of the Program are:
- Researchers and Innovators: Program will provide researchers and innovators across the IITs and other institutes with a platform to tackle complex scientific and technological problems related to Green Hydrogen. It fosters collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the development of novel solutions, benefiting researchers working in the field of hydrogen production, storage, distribution, and utilization.
- Industries and Manufacturing Sector: The outcome of this Innovation Program can lead to the development of new technologies in Green Hydrogen that can be adopted by the industries to transition towards cleaner and more sustainable processes, reducing their carbon emissions and environmental impact.
- Clean Energy and Renewable Energy Industry: It can create new opportunities for renewable energy integration, facilitate the deployment of large-scale renewable energy projects, and promote the development of technologies for efficient hydrogen production using renewable energy sources.
- Climate and Environment: The primary beneficiary of the Innovation Program in Green Hydrogen is the climate and the environment. By accelerating the development and deployment of green hydrogen technologies, the Program contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving air quality, and mitigating climate change impacts.
