MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

Dear Partners,

 

As India celebrated its 80th Independence Day, I am reminded that our nation’s strength lies in the convergence of vision, expertise, and collective action. At IIT Bombay, we believe that true nation-building is fuelled by meaningful innovation, where knowledge, intent, and partnership unite to propel India toward a future of self-reliance and progress.

 

This commitment found renewed expression at the 5th Annual CSR Conclave 2026, which brought together diverse stakeholders to reflect on how collaborative models strengthen technology-led nation-building. Today, as India navigates complex challenges across critical domains, the path toward a Viksit Bharat requires deeper synergy between academia, industry, philanthropy, and government.

 

We launched the IIT Bombay CSR Catalogue 2026–27 at the Conclave, featuring 400 opportunities for collaboration across research, technology, entrepreneurship, skilling, and community-focused initiatives. These projects are the building blocks of an Atmanirbhar India, designed to foster indigenous technological capabilities.

 

I am also delighted that over the past quarter, we have collaborated with several key partners across diverse areas, further strengthening the link between IIT Bombay’s research and industry..

 

This edition of CONVERGE also shines a light on emerging research and innovation platforms that are helping shape the future of the Institute’s impact ecosystem. These initiatives represent the growing depth and diversity of work underway across IIT Bombay, bringing together faculty expertise, industry partnerships, and interdisciplinary thinking to address challenges of national significance. While their areas of focus may vary, they share a common objective: translating research excellence into meaningful outcomes for our society.

 

Equally important are the voices of our partners, whose support makes these efforts possible. Their continued confidence in IIT Bombay’s ability to create scalable, sustainable impact strengthens our capacity to transform ideas into solutions that benefit communities across the country.

 

I thank our corporate and CSR partners for their trust and commitment. As we celebrate our national progress, we look forward to deepening these relationships and exploring new opportunities to work together in building the technologies, programmes, and innovations that secure a vibrant, prosperous, and self-reliant future for India.
