Techfest 2025

IIT Bombay hosted its annual Techfest 2025 on campus. In his keynote address, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, the Honourable Shri Nitin Gadkari, said that knowledge is the most powerful tool for India to become a $5 trillion economy and the third largest economy in the world. He said the future of any country is based on the type of futuristic technology it possesses.

Techfest also featured conversations with Mr. N. R. Narayana Murthy, Founder of Infosys Ltd. and Catamaran Ventures, and General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, India.

Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, Group Captain Angad Pratap, and Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman, ISRO, came together at India’s first Space Symposium.

The three days of Techfest featured drones that flew, robots that battled, and workshops that buzzed with hands-on learning and excitement. The energy peaked with Robowars and the future of robotics at the Global Humanoid Conclave. A humanoid robot performed the popular song Fa9la, from the recent Bollywood blockbuster film, Dhurandar, and moved with balance, coordination, and precision. It was truly a powerful moment where technology felt truly alive.

Tech Connect 2025

As part of Techfest, IIT Bombay also hosted TechConnect 2025, a flagship event showcasing the Institute’s R&D activities on campus. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Narayana Murthy.

TechConnect 2025 featured three key verticals, including an exhibition, Department-Industry Symposia, and Res-Con (Research Conclave).

– Mr. Narayana Murthy visited exhibits showcasing technologies in manufacturing, engineering, biosciences, game design, defence, artificial intelligence, and more. The exhibition showcased a diverse range of exhibits from multiple academic units, featuring 140 working models, demonstrations, and products that highlighted the Institute’s technological innovations.

– The Industry–Department Symposia comprised 11 focused sessions, providing a platform for close interaction, in-depth discussions, and firsthand exposure to departmental technologies and research facilities.

– ResCon, a research conclave, showcased student-driven projects and hosted the Soch Vichar Achar competition, giving undergraduates across India a platform to present innovative research.

During his visit, Mr. Murthy met with Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay, and other senior dignitaries from the Institute, interacted closely with faculty and researchers, and concluded the day with a thoughtful fireside chat where he reflected on what motivated him to become an entrepreneur.

Overall, Techfest and Tech Connect 2025 attracted an overwhelming footfall, with visitors displaying keen enthusiasm and excitement for innovations in science and technology. From powerful lectures by national leaders to global summits, high-speed racing, intense robowars, immersive gaming, and international performances at night, every moment brought innovation, adrenaline, and unforgettable energy together.
