IIT Bombay Triumphs at the 57th Inter IIT Sports Meet

IIT Bombay reclaimed the Overall General Championship, earning its 13th title, at the 57th Inter IIT Sports Meet, jointly hosted by IIT Kanpur and IIT Indore. This significant milestone came about after  seven years, as the athletes from the Institute showcased their exceptional talent. The women’s team achieved an impressive 2nd place overall, while the men’s team secured 3rd place overall.

The contingent excelled across various disciplines, earning numerous podium finishes. The final medal tally was as follows:

–  Basketball: Gold
–  Volleyball: Gold
–  Squash: Gold
–  Athletics: 4th position

Men’s Contingent:

–  Cricket: Gold
–  Basketball: Silver
–  Badminton: Silver
–  Squash: Silver

–  Water Polo: Silver
–  Swimming: 4th position overall

The team won Gold in chess also!

Competing against top talent from IITs across the country, the contingent delivered an impressive performance, winning 3 Golds, 2 Silvers, and 1 Bronze. This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication, creativity, and technical brilliance of the team.

IIT Bombay Students Win Big at the Smart India Hackathon 2024

Three teams from IIT Bombay emerged victorious in the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024, India’s premier student hackathon.

The Smart India Hackathon (SIH) is organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and AICTE, and is the world’s largest open innovation platform. SIH addresses some of the most pressing issues in the country and invited students to tackle these challenges through technological innovation. The hackathon encourages collaboration within interdisciplinary teams, challenging them to develop solutions that outperform others.

SIH 2024 garnered considerable attention at IIT Bombay, with the five-month-long hackathon culminating on December 15th, as three IIT Bombay teams were awarded the prestigious “SIH Grand Finale Winner” title in their respective problem statement categories.

IIT Bombay congratulates the 18 students whose collaborative efforts led to the development of technology-driven innovative solutions. The Institute is also grateful to IIT Bombay’s Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) that supported the students during the hackathon.
