LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE

IIT Bombay Soars in the QS WUR 2025 Global Rankings: Makes A Historic Leap to 118th Place

In an extraordinary accomplishment, IIT Bombay ascended 31 places and achieved its best-ever global ranking of 118th (advanced from the 149th position last year) in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2025. The Institute also took the premiere spot in India. This marks the first time IIT Bombay has secured a place within the top 125 since it participated in the QS rankings

The Institute received an overall score of 56.3 out of 100. IIT Bombay also scored the following in various categories out of a total of 100 points

• 86.0 in Employer Reputation • 79.1 in Citations Per Faculty • 64.5 in Employment Outcomes • 58.5 in Academic Reputation • 52.5 in Sustainability • 52.3 in International Research Network • 14.4 in Faculty-Student Ratio • 4.3 in International Faculty • 1.3 in International Students

Unlocking CSR for Impactful Research: IIT Bombay Successfully Hosts Annual CSR Conclave 2024



IIT Bombay successfully concluded its much-anticipated Annual CSR Conclave on June 17, 2024. The theme of this year's conclave, 'Unlocking CSR for Impactful Research,' brought together domain experts, industry heads, and corporate leaders to explore the pivotal role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in propelling research initiatives and technological advancements, that have the potential to empower both the society and the nation. The event was attended by over 200 corporate delegates.

IIT Bombay is delighted to announce the upcoming Faculty Alumni Network (FAN) and Distinguished Alumni Meet (DA Meet) 2024 event, taking place from July 19th to 21st at Stanford University, USA. Let us soak in the brightness of July and seize the opportunities it brings to connect, collaborate, and create a brighter and greener future together.

 

As always, I am delighted to share with you the latest developments and initiatives that are shaping the future of our beloved IIT Bombay and the impact it has on society.

 

Before I proceed, I am delighted to announce some exciting news for you. For the first time, IIT Bombay climbed 31 places and achieved its best-ever global ranking of 118th (from the 149th position last year) in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2025. Look for a detailed write-up on this accomplishment in the Legacy of Excellence section of the newsletter.

 

The month of July also brings with it the annual FAN-DA meeting to be held at Stanford University, USA. I hope to meet and interact with many of you when our team from IIT Bombay visits California in July. Look for details on the various activities we have planned for this year’s event in the Curtain Raiser section of the newsletter.

 

I am delighted to announce that we successfully hosted the highly anticipated third edition of our flagship Annual CSR Conclave 2024. The theme this year was ‘Unlocking CSR for Impactful Research,’ and the event succeeded beyond our wildest expectations. Our commitment to driving positive change through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives remains steadfast. In our Special Report in this month’s newsletter, we delve into the transformative projects and partnerships that are making a tangible difference in several critical areas that help in nation-building. Join us in celebrating the collective efforts of our community in fostering meaningful change.

 

I am delighted to shine a spotlight on one of our faculty members, Dr. T. T. Niranjan, who recounts his thrilling ice-climbing expedition in the Alps, highlighting how IIT Bombay nurtures a culture that encourages faculty members to pursue their passions beyond academia.
