Before proceeding, I have three immensely delightful news to present. IIT Bombay was placed within the top 150 universities in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2024 for the first time ever. It is also with tremendous joy and profound gratitude that I would like to inform you about the staggering generosity and benevolence of one of our own. Mr. Nandan Nilekani, our illustrious alumnus and visionary leader, exemplifies the enduring spirit and generosity of our alumni community and bestowed upon IIT Bombay a monumental gift of Rs. 315 crores. This unprecedented contribution is the largest ever single private donation made in India to an academic institution. His donation is a testament to his unflinching commitment to education and belief in the transformative power of knowledge. The Institute will use his philanthropic donation with integrity and thanks Mr. Nilekani for his visionary support of his alma mater. IIT Bombay will also host a felicitation ceremony followed by a grand reception on July 26, 2023, to celebrate Mr. Nilekani’s remarkable association with his alma mater. Finally, we successfully hosted the highly anticipated second edition of our flagship annual CSR Conclave – Tech for Development in June 2023. Please look for a detailed Special Report on the event in the newsletter.

The month of July also brings with it the annual FAN-ADAM to be held at Northwestern University, Chicago. We are also eagerly looking forward to visiting and re-establish our connection with our alumni community based in Toronto and Montreal.
