IIT Bombay Signs MoU with NPCIL to Pioneer DSM Technology for GHAVP Nuclear Project

IIT Bombay signed an MoU with the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) to undertake technical development work and field trials to assess the suitability of the Deep Soil Mixing (DSM) technique for the construction of the upcoming 700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) Units 3 and 4 at the Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojana (GHAVP) in Haryana. This collaboration will focus on developing a new technique, Deep Soil Mixing (DSM), for ground improvement at GHAVP site that will be first-of-its-kind for a Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in the country. This will enable faster and safer construction of NPPs in sites with soil as founding strata.

IIT Bombay Signs MoU with IIIT Pune to Boost Research and Innovation Collaboration

IIT Bombay signed an MoU with the Indian Institute of Information Technology Pune (IIIT Pune) to strengthen academic, research, and innovation-driven collaboration between the two institutions. The MoU establishes a framework for collaboration in joint research, faculty and student exchange, internships, knowledge sharing, innovation and capacity building. It also provides opportunities for IIIT Pune students to participate in research and internship programmes at IIT Bombay, fostering academic excellence and technological advancement.

Summer School in Organic Chemistry Brings Theory and Practice Together

The Department of Chemistry hosted the IIT Bombay Summer School in Organic Chemistry, bringing together college and university students from Maharashtra and Gujarat for an intensive residential programme.

The week-long programme focused on strengthening students’ understanding of organic chemistry through a combination of lectures, problem-solving sessions and hands-on laboratory work aligned with the topics covered in class. Students also visited the BASF R&D facility in Navi Mumbai, gaining an opportunity to experience chemistry research and applications beyond the classroom.

The programme provided participants with an immersive learning experience that combined fundamental concepts with practical exposure and industry interaction.
