IIT Bombay and IAF Partner to Advance Flight Testing and Military Aerospace

IIT Bombay and the Indian Air Force signed a unique MoA defining a collaborative framework for the Air Force Test Pilot School (AFTPS) at the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) of the IAF. The collaboration will bring together the academic and technological expertise and research capabilities of IIT Bombay and AFTPS towards a Master’s Degree for Flight Test Crew (Test Pilots and Flight Test Engineers). This path-breaking initiative of the Institute and IAF is a stepping-stone for achieving operational readiness and deepening the technological self-reliance in the crucial military aerospace domain.

IIT Bombay Signs MoU with DGMA for Maritime Research

IIT Bombay signed an MoU with the Directorate General of Maritime Administration (DGMA) establishing a framework for closer collaboration in maritime research, technology development, education and capacity building. The MoU provides a broad platform for collaboration in areas including maritime engineering, ocean engineering, shipbuilding, ship repair and recycling, shipping technology, maritime administration, sustainability and decarbonisation.

IIT Bombay Hosts Industry Day on Space Technology

IIT Bombay hosted Industry Day on Space Technology, bringing together leaders and experts from industry, academia and the space sector. The programme featured a thought-provoking panel on “Shaping India’s Space Ecosystem: Industry, Academia & Government” along with faculty and industry presentations, prototype showcases, networking opportunities and laboratory visits. The event highlighted the immense potential for industry–academia collaboration, technology translation, and innovation in advancing India’s space ecosystem.

Padma Shri Prof. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar Recognises IIT Bombay’s Innovation in Teaching and Learning

Prof. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, Padma Shri awardee, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Calcutta, and former Chairman, UGC, and Vice-Chancellor, JNU, has recognised the work of IIT Bombay’s Parimal and Pramod Chaudhari Centre for Learning and Teaching (PPCCLT). His reflections on the evolving practice of teaching and learning highlight the importance of faculty development, pedagogical innovation, and a culture of continuous learning, all central to PPCCLT’s work at the Institute.

Celebrating a Legacy of 50 Years: IEOR Golden Jubilee Inauguration

It was five decades of driving excellence in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research (IEOR) at IIT Bombay, as the IEOR Department officially inaugurated its Golden Jubilee Celebrations in the presence of Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay, and the department faculty.

The event unveiled the official IEOR Golden Jubilee Logo and celebratory posters that honour 50 years of academic achievements.
Golden Jubilee Logo Unveiling: The official IEOR Golden Jubilee logo was jointly revealed by Prof. Kedare and the faculty members of the IEOR department, setting the visual identity for a year-long celebration.
Poster Release: The IEOR Golden Jubilee posters highlighted the department’s decades of contributions and legacy.
A Visual Tribute by Students: Demonstrating strong camaraderie and spirit, students created a striking human formation of the number “50”, visually depicting the 50-year legacy of the department.
