IIT Bombay Hosts SATU (Southeast and South Asia and Taiwan Universities)  Gathering 2026

IIT Bombay hosted the SATU (Southeast and South Asia and Taiwan Universities)  Gathering 2026 on campus. The event brought together 44 participants from industry, the Indian government, and academia, and represented 18 universities across 7 countries in the SATU network. The gathering focused on strengthening collaboration in the semiconductor domain, with rich discussions on translational research, innovation ecosystems, and industry–academia partnerships. Through expert talks, panel discussions, and networking sessions, attendees explored pathways from research to real-world impact.

IIT Bombay Hosts Tohoku University Global Immersion Programme

IIT Bombay’s Office of International Relations hosted a five-day Global Immersion Programme in collaboration with Tohoku University, Japan. The Institute welcomed 10 students, accompanied by 3 faculty members, to the campus and provided the participants with a comprehensive exposure to the research, innovation, and entrepreneurship ecosystem at IIT Bombay. During the week, the visiting students engaged with the Institute’s faculty across several focus areas, including materials science, robotics, energy and sustainability, disaster mitigation, and digital health.

LOTUS 2025 – Strengthening India–Japan Research Collaboration

IIT Bombay is pleased to share that 30 collaborative research projects involving IIT Bombay faculty members have been selected under the LOTUS 2025 Programme, in partnership with 12 leading universities and research institutes in Japan. The collaborations span institutions such as the University of Tsukuba, Hokkaido University, Tohoku University, NIMS, Kumamoto University, Kobe University, AIST, Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), RIKEN, Nagoya University, and the University of Tokyo, reflecting the growing depth of India–Japan academic partnerships. The selected projects span diverse research areas and will foster joint research, researcher mobility, and knowledge exchange between IIT Bombay and Japanese partner institutions.

IIT Bombay Hosts Youth Delegations from Central Asia

IIT Bombay hosted a 100-member Central Asian youth delegation from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan on campus. The visit was coordinated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Prof. Suryanarayanan Doolla, Dean (Student Affairs), presented an engaging overview of student life and campus activities, and Prof. Pratibha Sharma, Associate Dean (Academic Programmes), gave a detailed presentation on academic programmes to the attendees.

Campus Infrastructure: Inauguration of Staff Residential Building and Newly Refurbished Jalvihar Guesthouse

IIT Bombay marked a significant milestone with the ground-breaking ceremony of its upcoming residential building, Type II-B Staff Quarters, by the lakeside on campus. The event featured several IIT Bombay dignitaries. Salient features of the residential building include a ground floor plus 21 floors with a 3-level covered podium parking, with a total built-up area of approximately 1.5 lakh sq. ft. It will accommodate 76 two-bedroom, hall, and kitchen (2BHK) flats along with essential supporting facilities.

IIT Bombay also inaugurated the newly refurbished Jal Vihar guesthouse on campus. Some of the new amenities include 5 Suites, 16 Executive Rooms, 3 Standard Rooms, a Seminar Room and Conference Room, a Dining Hall, and a Mini Dining Hall.
