Union Minister Jitin Prasada Launches PUSHPAK Drone Mission Website

IIT Bombay welcomed the Hon’ble Union Minister of State, Shri Jitin Prasada, Ministry of Commerce & Industry and Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India, for a high-profile visit to its campus. During the visit, Shri Prasada interacted with startups at the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), toured key facilities including the Nanofabrication Lab, SemiX, and the Drone Centre, and officially launched the website for “PUSHPAK – National Mission on Drone Technology”, funded by the Ministry of Electronics & IT.

IIT Bombay Signs MoU with MSETCL

IIT Bombay signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Co. Ltd. (a Govt. of Maharashtra Undertaking), through its Maharashtra State Load Dispatch Centre (MSLDC), to modernise the Maharashtra State Electricity Grid. This will allow the grid to become more secure, stable, and reliable. The MoU signing event was attended by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar (IAS), CMD, MSETCL, and Mr. Shashank Jewalikar (ED, MSLDC), while Prof. Zakir Rather represented IIT Bombay.

Prof. Shireesh Kedare Delivers Inaugural Address at ICC Seminar

The Indian Chemical Council (ICC) hosted its 16th Annual Seminar on Recognizing Excellence of Performance in Various Facets of the Chemical Industry. Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay, delivered the inaugural address as the Guest of Honour. In his address, Prof. Kedare emphasized the importance of cutting-edge innovation for the future success of the Indian chemical industry and underscored the critical need for industry and IIT Bombay to collaborate closely on this goal. He highlighted IIT Bombay’s facilities, such as the Research Park and the Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility, and reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to developing top talent for the sector.

IIT Bombay Joins Dialogue at DPI Partners Council 2025 at Cardiff University

The sixth DPI Partners annual council meeting was held at Cardiff University. Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay, held centre-stage in the Presidential Roundtable titled “Social Media – freedom of expression or a platform for repression?“ where he was joined by several dignitaries from universities around the world.

IIT Bombay Inaugurates Staff Building

Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay, inaugurated the Staff Club on campus. Located in bungalow A12, the Staff Club has a Function Hall, a Staff Lounge, and a children’s Reading Room. Speaking at the event, Prof. Kedare said, “The Staff Club will help improve community interactions.” Any employee of IIT Bombay can become a Staff Club member by sending a signed copy of the membership form to any Staff Club EC member.

IIT Bombay Marks World Suicide Prevention Day with Creative Expression

The Student Wellness Centre (SWC) at IIT Bombay commemorated World Suicide Prevention Day with a unique initiative that highlighted the importance of emotional expression and mental health. Throughout the day, students performed across campus, using dance and movement to convey the silent struggles many face and the power of seeking support. The performances carried a simple but profound message: It’s okay to express. It’s okay to seek help. By engaging the campus community through movement and shared spaces, the initiative emphasized that emotional well-being is a collective responsibility.
