IIT Bombay’s Distinguished Alumnus, Mr. Rizwan Koita (B.Tech., Electrical Engineering, 1992) has been appointed as the chairperson of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH). NABH is a constituent board of the Quality Council of India (QCI) that is responsible for setting benchmarks for quality, accrediting, and certifying hospitals and other healthcare organisations. The NABH standards have been adopted by over 20,000 hospitals across India. Mr. Koita has been a Board member of NABH over the past 2 years and has been actively involved with the Digital Health initiatives at NABH.
Mr. Koita and his wife, Ms. Rekha Koita, have been active supporters of IIT Bombay. The Koita Foundation, their philanthropic organisation, has worked closely with IIT Bombay to establish the Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH) in 2021. KCDH has become one of the most popular centres on campus. Koita Foundation is involved with several national-level initiatives in Digital Health.
Mr. Koita is co-founder of CitiusTech, India’s largest Digital Health company, which he led from its inception in 2005 to the end of 2021. After completing his BTech from IIT Bombay in 1992, Mr. Koita went on to receive his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1995. He was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award by IIT Bombay in March 2019.
