During his visit to IIT Bombay, the Honourable Union Minister for Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, announced the establishment of a Rs. 720 crore “Quantum Fabrication & Central Facilities” under the ‘National Quantum Mission’. The two major state-of-the-art Quantum Fabrication and Central Facilities are to be set up at IIT Bombay and IISc Bengaluru. They will indigenise the fabrication of quantum computing chips and quantum sensors, thereby accelerating their development in India. During his visit, Dr. Singh highlighted that these advanced fabrication and characterization facilities will benefit academia, industry, start-ups, and strategic sectors, and enable the development of indigenous quantum devices and build a skilled workforce in quantum hardware.
