Dr. Samir V Kamat, Secretary, DDR&D, and Chairman DRDO, alongside Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director, IIT Bombay, laid the foundation stone for the DRDO-Industry-Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE), a collaborative venture between IIT Bombay, IIT Madras. Additionally, Dr. Kamat unveiled a life-size model of the Akash missile, strategically positioned at the NCC ground adjacent to the IITB Gymkhana grounds.

Esteemed representatives from DRDO, IIT Bombay administrators, faculty, and staff graced the occasion which signified a pivotal moment for collaborative research initiatives between DRDO, academia, and pertinent industries. The upcoming 7-story facility will encompass the Department of Aerospace Engineering and BETiC (Biomedical Engineering and Technology Innovation Centre).
