The Class of 1997 celebrated their Silver Jubilee in 2022 and supported several key initiatives at their alma mater. Alongside contributing to the institute’s greatest needs such as the Young Faculty Award (now Young Faculty Fellowship – YFF), Retired Faculty Wellness Fund (RFWF), and Student Wellness Centre, they also established a vibrant café, the “9tea7 Shack”, in the Project Evergreen (new hostel complex H7-8-21) as part of their legacy.

They envisioned a modern café, the "9tea7 Shack", in the upcoming 7-8-21 student housing complex as a vibrant destination for students to hang out and enjoy their leisure time.

“9tea7 Shack” is a vibrant café envisioned as a leisure and hangout destination for students. It represents not just a refreshment point but a symbol of community bonding and campus vibrancy, tying into the broader goals of Project Evergreen.

Few initiatives in IIT Bombay’s history have reflected the power of alumni collaboration quite like Project Evergreen—a landmark effort bringing together vision, generosity, and a deep commitment to the student experience. This alumni-led, alumni-built, and alumni-delivered world-class hostel complex, supported by corporates and well-wishers, provides students with modern living spaces that enhance their campus experience. Three state-of-the-art hostels, H7, H8, and H21 (a dedicated women’s hostel), now add 848 hostel rooms with 1127 beds. Operational since July 2025, the hostels are home to students who are living, learning, debating, dreaming, and forming friendships that will last a lifetime.
