“For most of us, coming to IIT was that pivotal moment that changed the trajectory of our lives. A significant part of who we are has been shaped by the myriad of experiences at IIT and the lifelong friendships that we built while at campus, and we paid only a token amount in tuition fees to earn that. So as part of the legacy project of our class, it was an honor to be able to contribute back to our alma mater to repay at least part of the debt that we owe. I would encourage my classmates and other fellow alums to also support causes they identify with and make our institute even better.“

“I have been involved with the IIT Bombay Heritage Foundation for over 20 years and have served in various capacities including Bay Area chapter president, Board Member, etc. I feel that the education I received at IIT (both in and out of the classroom) is a key reason for my success. The education we receive at IITB is incredibly subsidised and I feel it is necessary to give back so that we can ensure that current and future students continue to have the same great experience that we had.“

Project

The Class of 1993 supported the upgrade of a lecture hall on campus, which was formally commemorated and renamed in their honour.

To support the academic infrastructure of the institute, the Class of 1993 generously contributed towards the maintenance of a 240-seater lecture hall on campus. Their support has transformed the space into a state-of-the-art, globally competitive facility, which has been named the “Class of 93 Lecture Hall” in recognition of their contribution. A formal commemoration ceremony was held, marked by the unveiling of dedicated signage installed outside Lecture Hall 102.

Project

Kadayam S. Srinivasan Microfactory and Harivallabh Nagar Micro-factories at IIT Bombay, part of the Maker Space initiative, provide students with hands-on experience using advanced tools and technologies to simulate real-world industrial environments and foster innovation.

The micro-factories are a key component of IIT Bombay’s Maker Space initiative, designed to offer students hands-on experience in state-of-the-art thematic labs aligned with modern design and manufacturing practices. Equipped with advanced tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, forming machines, electronic lathes, and cutting-edge modelling software, these facilities aim to transform engineering education by simulating real-world industrial environments and fostering innovative problem-solving skills.

Project

The Class of 1993 at IIT Bombay supported the installation of a grey water recycling system under Project Evergreen, aimed at enhancing campus sustainability through water conservation practices.

Grey water recycling system is being implemented under Project Evergreen to promote environmental sustainability on campus. The project will help in conserving water by treating and reusing grey water generated in the hostel complex, contributing to the institute's long-term green goals.

Few initiatives in IIT Bombay’s history have reflected the power of alumni collaboration quite like Project Evergreen—a landmark effort bringing together vision, generosity, and a deep commitment to the student experience. This alumni-led, alumni-built, and alumni-delivered world-class hostel complex, supported by corporates and well-wishers, provides students with modern living spaces that enhance their campus experience. Three state-of-the-art hostels, H7, H8, and H21 (a dedicated women’s hostel), now add 848 hostel rooms with 1127 beds. Operational since July 2025, the hostels are home to students who are living, learning, debating, dreaming, and forming friendships that will last a lifetime.
