Over the past month, the Institute has hosted a series of thought-provoking lectures that have enriched academic discourse and fostered meaningful intellectual interactions among students and faculty, further strengthening the Institute’s vibrant academic ecosystem.

Lumina: Lighting Her Path Lecture Series

Lumina hosted Funding the Future: What VCs Look For that featured a candid conversation on fundraising and building scalable businesses.

The session featured IIT Bombay alumni, Ms. Vandana Rajadhyaksha (B.Tech., MEMS, 1994), Founder, Colossa Ventures, and Mr. Ursheet P. (B.Tech., CSE, 1998), Venture Partner, Mayfield Ventures. IIT Bombay alumnae Ms. Swapna Samant (B.Tech., Civil Engineering, 1995) and Ms. Rashmi Tripathi (PhD, Materials Science, 2023) moderated the discussion and Q&A.

Among the key takeaways were the importance of a strong founding team, family support, quick decision-making, and staying objective about one’s idea. The speakers also emphasised that not every startup is suited to VC funding, and that founders should seek investors who bring more than capital to the table.
