IIT Bombay is deeply grateful to its alumnus, Mr. Partha Sarathi Sharma (B.Tech., Mechanical Engineering, 2015), and his family for dedicating Lecture Hall 101 to his grandfather, Prof. Rai Ramjee Sharma. Through this gesture, Mr. Sharma honours an educator who fostered a deep curiosity for mathematics, physics, and scientific thinking, embodying the spirit of inquiry that lies at the heart of education.
Lecture Hall 101 holds special significance for Mr. Sharma, as it was here that his journey at his cherished alma mater began, shaped by learning, aspiration, and values that continue to connect him to the Institute. Years later, when he chose to give back, the gesture was deeply personal. “My mother has had an incredible contribution to my career, and she is a product of her father’s teachings,” he shared. “It was almost like a gift to my mother.”
Mr. Sharma’s contribution also reflects a simple yet profound philosophy that guides his approach to giving. He added, “We take what we need, and we give what we can.”
His act is a reminder that philanthropy is not only a form of support but also an expression of gratitude, memory, and enduring connection.
