IIT Bombay marked a significant milestone in its journey toward excellence with the inauguration of the A91 Eco Hub, a cutting-edge facility designed to foster academic excellence and innovation on campus.
The event celebrated the contributions of esteemed alumni, including:
– Mr. Abhay Pandey (B.Tech., Computer Science and Engineering, 1993)
– Dr. Sharad Saraf (B.Tech., Electrical Engineering, 1969)
– Mr. Sudharshan Saraf (B.Tech., Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering, 1970)
All three have played pivotal roles in supporting the Institute’s mission. As the building donor, Mr. Abhay Pandey’s generous contribution, along with the Saraf brothers’ support for the Centre, will significantly enhance IIT Bombay’s capabilities in nurturing the next generation of scholars and leaders.
With Economics emerging as the fourth most popular discipline at IIT Bombay, the A91 Eco Hub is purposefully designed to provide a dynamic space where students can collaborate to address complex economic challenges, further reinforcing the Institute’s commitment to shaping future thought leaders.
The new facility serves as the permanent home for The Technocraft Centre for Applied Artificial Intelligence (TCA2I), which focuses on groundbreaking research in Operational Research, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Automation, with a strategic emphasis on real-world industrial applications. TCA2I aims to bridge the gap between academic innovation and industry needs, driving impactful advancements in AI-powered solutions. In addition, the A91 Eco Hub houses the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) and the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR).
The inauguration event commenced with inspiring remarks from Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay, who shared insights and reflections on the Institute’s growth and the transformation of its learning spaces. Following his address, attendees enjoyed a video walkthrough of the new building.
The Institute was honoured to welcome back Mr. Abhay Pandey, Mr. Sudharshan Saraf, and Dr. Sharad Saraf, whose dedication has significantly contributed to the growth of academic and research excellence at IIT Bombay. The event also recognized the contributions of the A91 Eco Hub project team, and Prof. Vedagiri Perumal, Dean of Infrastructure and Public Services (IPS) team, for their exceptional work in making this initiative a reality.
