CHARTING IITB’S FUTURE: IIT Bombay Unveils ‘Strategy Plan 2026–2030 & Beyond’

IIT Bombay officially released its Strategy Plan 2026–2030 & Beyond, outlining the roadmap for the Institute’s next phase of growth. Dr. Radhakrishnan Koppillil, Chairperson, Board of Governors, IIT Bombay, officially released the plan, which lays out the Institute’s aspiration to be among the world’s leading technology institutions by 2030 while strengthening its long-term leadership in education, research, innovation, and societal impact with a strong emphasis on excellence. The plan emphasizes learning-centric education through experiential, interdisciplinary, and digital pathways, including new joint degree programmes and scaled online degrees and certificate offerings. It also sharpens the Institute’s leadership in frontier research across AI and ML, Climate Tech, Healthcare and MedTech, Quantum Technologies, Semiconductors, Advanced Materials, and Space and Defence.

A strong push toward industry and societal impact will guide deeper collaborations, entrepreneurship, and translation of research into real-world solutions. These priorities are supported by six enablers: faculty development, advanced infrastructure with a net-zero vision, modernised processes, financial resilience, strengthened alumni and corporate engagement, and an emphasis on community wellness.
