IIT Bombay Showcases Excellence at ESTIC 2025

The Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, inaugurated the first Emerging Science, Technology & Innovation Conclave 2025 (ESTIC 2025), organised by the Department of Science and Technology in collaboration with 12 other Ministries and Departments under the guidance of the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India. During the event, he also launched the Rs. 1 lakh crore Research, Development & Innovation (RDI) Scheme.

IIT Bombay was proud to be strongly represented at ESTIC 2025, with its faculty and researchers showcasing the Institute’s leadership in cutting-edge science, technology, and innovation, and highlighting IIT Bombay’s continued commitment to national progress and impact.

Prof. Rahul Purwar presented NexCAR19, India’s first indigenous CAR-T cell therapy, developed by ImmunoACT, to PM Modi, who, in turn, gifted it to the nation.

Prof. Varun Bhalerao met the Honourable Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, and the Honourable Minister of Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, where he held discussions on the country’s growing leadership role in science and innovation. Prof. Bhalerao also spoke to them about the Daksha initiative. Prof. Bhalerao also met with several leaders shaping the future of Indian science and technology.
