IIT Bombay has done it once again!

The Institute achieved a significant milestone by ranking 45th globally in Engineering and Technology, with an overall score of 79.1 out of 100, in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject for 2024. The QS World University Rankings by Subject evaluates the world’s leading universities in 55 disciplines as of 2024.

IIT Bombay moved up two places in Engineering and Technology from its position in 2023.

The Institute was recognized in four broad subject areas:

• Social Sciences and Management
• Arts and Humanities

The Institute’s achievements in specific disciplines are exceptionally noteworthy. It was ranked:

• An impressive 25th in Minerals & Mining.
• 30th in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
• 42nd in Civil & Structural Engineering
• 57th in Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering
• 63rd in Electrical & Electronics Engineering
• 64th for Computer Science & Information Technology
• 64th in Chemical Engineering

When assessed by different parameters, IIT Bombay excelled in several areas. Other scores include:

• The Institute scored its highest rank in Academic Reputation with 79.6 in Mathematics
• In Employer Reputation – the Institute scored a remarkable 96.2 in Engineering – Mineral & Mining
• In Citations per Paper – an 88.0 in Engineering – Mineral & Mining
• In H-Index, it scored 80.5 in Engineering – Mineral & Mining. This marked the Institute’s top performance in this indicator.
