In a significant move to drive technological advancements, IIT Bombay and Samsung Research and Development Institute, Noida (SRI-Noida), have joined forces to pioneer research in artificial intelligence (AI), digital health, and other cutting-edge domains. This five-year collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), promises to redefine the landscape of innovation and industry-academia partnerships in India.
This partnership aims to foster collaborative research between IIT Bombay’s esteemed faculty and Samsung’s engineering teams, focusing on solving real-world challenges through advanced technologies. By pooling their respective expertise, the two organizations will generate impactful research papers and develop industry-aligned solutions, contributing to the global tech ecosystem.
During the MoU signing ceremony, Prof. Upendra V. Bhandarkar, Associate Dean of Research and Development, IIT Bombay, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership. “This collaboration reflects our mutual commitment to innovation, knowledge sharing, and excellence. By working with Samsung, we are creating avenues for our students and faculty to engage meaningfully with industry, advance research, and make a difference,” he said.
Mr. Kyungyun Roo, Managing Director of SRI-Noida, echoed these sentiments, stressing the potential for groundbreaking outcomes that this collaboration could yield.
Faculty members from IIT Bombay’s Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH), including its head, Professor Ranjith Padinhateeri, were present at the event, symbolizing the Institute’s active role in pushing the boundaries of digital health research.
One of the key highlights of the collaboration is its emphasis on providing IIT Bombay students with immersive, hands-on learning experiences. Close interaction with Samsung engineers will expose students to state-of-the-art research methodologies and industry practices, preparing them to excel in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
