Announcing the upcoming lecture in IIT Bombay’s prestigious ‘NR Kamath Distinguished Lecture series!
This annual webinar honours the esteemed contributions of Prof. N.R. Kamath, former Deputy Director and Department Head of Chemical Engineering. The webinar is hosted by the Chemistry Department.
The lecture will be presented by Prof. Michael Klien, Laura H Carnell Professor of Science and Director of the Institute for Computational Molecular Science at Temple University, Philadelphia, USA. Prof. Klien was the recipient of the Aneesur Rahman prize in 1999, the highest honour conferred by the American Physical Society for his work in computational physics and became a member of the United States National Academy of Science in 2009. Most recently, he has earned the Sheikh Saud International Prize for Material Science in 2024 and the John Scott Medal & Award in 2020. Prof. Klien’s paper on Monte Carlo simulations in the Journal of Chemical physics has been cited over 35,000 times.
Prof. Klien, will share his expert insights on ‘Knots in Polymers.’ This piece discusses the impact of knots on polymers such as the ‘trefoil’ knot akin to an overhand knot on a rope.
