MESSAGE FROM DEAN

It gives me great pleasure to introduce the inaugural edition of IIT Bombay’s Corporate CSR Newsletter titled CONVERGE. It’s a platform that celebrates the powerful synergies between industry and the Institute, technology and social responsibility, and innovation and national development.

This newsletter marks an important milestone in our engagement with socially conscious corporate partners who share our vision of building a better future through science, technology, and collective purpose. For us, CSR is not just a funding mechanism, it’s a catalyst for change. It is how we bring together the capabilities of a world-class academic ecosystem with the energy and intent of corporate India to create measurable, long-term impact. Today, more than ever, we see this convergence as essential to India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat initiatives.

This shared commitment is already taking shape in meaningful ways across our ecosystem. I am pleased to note that over the past year, our corporate partnerships have grown at a remarkable pace. With over 40 new collaborators added this financial year, we now have 172 active corporate partners and 218 ongoing projects.

Our CSR projects are also aligned with the most urgent priorities of our time — including areas of strategic national importance such as sustainable energy, digital infrastructure, urban development, and advanced manufacturing. Through research-led collaborations, we are driving inclusive economic growth by building future-ready talent, supporting entrepreneurship, and strengthening India’s innovation landscape. At the grassroots, we are working to close last-mile gaps — from water security and health access to skill development and digital learning — ensuring that no community is left behind. These efforts directly advance India’s commitments under the Sustainable Development Goals, while also enabling corporates to meet their own ESG mandates with credibility and purpose.

We hope to capture this expanding canvas of impact through this new platform. Moving forward, Converge will be a quarterly publication — not merely a round-up of institutional activity, but a window into our growing ecosystem of impact. It will highlight stories of tangible change, shaped through purposeful collaborations with our corporate partners.

Finally, I urge you to read the message from Mr. Ravishankar Gedela, CEO of DRF, whose leadership continues to guide the operational excellence behind our CSR partnerships. And as you browse through this edition, look for the Corporate Relations Team at DRF. These are the people whose stewardship has played a pivotal role in building and sustaining our partnerships with corporates. For future collaborations, please connect with them to explore how we can work together on initiatives that drive shared value and lasting change. I also hope you’ll take a moment to explore our CSR Brochure by clicking on the link at the end. It offers a deeper insight into the work we’re building together with corporates.

Finally, I want to thank you for your trust and partnership. Let us continue to shape a better future through science, innovation, and compassion — and build bold, meaningful collaborations that serve our communities, our country, and our collective futures.

Thank you. Jai Hind.

MESSAGE FROM CEO

Let me begin by saying – THANK YOU.

My sincere gratitude to all of you, our corporate partners, whose commitment, trust, and collaboration have helped shape the impact you’ve seen reflected across IIT Bombay’s Corporate CSR Newsletter titled CONVERGE.

Every initiative featured here, from cutting-edge research and infrastructure development to inclusive education and sustainability, is evidence of what we can accomplish when institutions and industry work hand in hand and when purpose meets partnership.

At IIT Bombay’s Development and Relations Foundation (DRF), we see ourselves as facilitators of purposeful collaboration. We ensure that every project is supported with care, every donation is thoughtfully stewarded, and every engagement is designed for long-term, measurable impact. Whether it’s a lab advancing cutting-edge research, a scholarship opening doors for underserved students, a sustainable technology being brought to life, or a skilling programme expanding access to opportunity, our focus is on making the partnership seamless, transparent, and impactful. Your ongoing support enables us to implement agile, high-impact solutions that respond to national priorities while upholding the highest standards of accountability and care.

Underlying all of this is a vision that continues to shape and guide our approach. And that vision, defined at the institutional level under the leadership of Prof. Ravindra Gudi, Dean ACR, provides purpose and direction to everything we do at DRF.

As we move forward, our commitment remains clear — to grow this network of thought leaders and changemakers, deepen our collaborations, and continue building solutions that serve both society and science. We look forward to working with you in new and exciting ways in the months ahead.

Thank you for your continued trust. Let’s continue to turn ideas into action — and intent into enduring impact.

Jai Hind.
