IIT Bombay and SBI Life Collaborate to Secure India’s Insurance Future

IIT Bombay and SBI Life have partnered to launch the AI & Cyber Innovation Hub for Insurance, in alignment with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. This collaboration represents a dedicated effort to build indigenous, AI-powered cyber defence systems capable of meeting the rapidly expanding needs of the insurance sector. With the Indian insurance market projected to grow at 6.9% annually until 2030, the ability to safeguard customer data at scale has become a critical priority. Through this new hub, the partnership is investing in the development of AI, cybersecurity, and quantum technologies. Central to this initiative is the commitment to ensuring these technologies are designed, built, and owned in India.

This collaboration marks a decisive move toward transforming the sector into an AI-native insurance landscape. By focusing on indigenous innovation, the Hub aims to strengthen trust and secure the future of insurance for India, from India. This initiative is further bolstered by its alignment with BharatGen, signalling a unified approach to building a secure, intelligent, and sovereign technological future.
