Wg. Cdr. R. Raghavan (retd.) has achieved a high degree of success as a technocrat and entrepreneur in the software and electronics industries.nnnMr. Raghavan, shortly after acquiring a M.Sc. Physics degree was commissioned in the Electronics Branch of the IAF in 1964. During his tenure with the IAF upto 1986, he made significant contributions by virtue of his technical expertise and innovative approach. These included developing an airborne electronic counter measure system; the first aircraft reliability and maintainability information system; serving on a team for indigenisation of missile system; deputation as software consultant to Cabinet Secretariat and to the DRDO. He was deputed to IIT for doing the PG diploma in Computer Science.
Dr. N. Radhakrishnan
Dr.N.Radhakrishnan took his M.Tech. from the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT – Bombay. Later , he obtained his Ph.D from the University of Texas, Austin, USA.nnDr. Radhakrishnan has over 40 years of experience in Information Technology. He is a widely respected leader in the Army, DOD, and industry in computational science & engineering. During 1999-2003, Dr. Radhakrishnan was the Director of Computational & Information Sciences Directorate with a budget of US$180 million and the Chief Information Officer of the US Army’s Corporate R & D Laboratory with a research funding of US$10 billion. He has also been the Director of US Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station.
Sharad Kumar Saraf
Mr. Sharad Kumar Saraf is an entrepreneur who has achieved an outstanding level of success in developing technology and its application, to produce and market an engineering product.nnnFollowing his IIT Bachelor’s degree in 1969, Mr. Saraf underwent a year’s Industrial Training in Germany in 1970. He promoted Technocraft Industries (India) Ltd, in 1972 as a small unit on a shoe string budget of less than 2 Lakhs. Technocraft produces and markets Drum Closures, which are a high precision and sophisticated sheet metal light engineering product used as a closing device on 200 litre Steel Drums. Currently Technocraft produces and exports Drum Closures worth approximatly Rs. 40 crores to over 60 countries. Technocraft is now the second largest manufacturer of Drum Closures in the world and among the first 50 companies in the country to be awarded ISO 9002 Quality Assurance Certificate.
