Wg. Cdr. R. Raghavan (retd.) has achieved a high degree of success as a technocrat and entrepreneur in the software and electronics industries.
Mr. Raghavan, shortly after acquiring a M.Sc. Physics degree was commissioned in the Electronics Branch of the IAF in 1964. During his tenure with the IAF upto 1986, he made significant contributions by virtue of his technical expertise and innovative approach. These included developing an airborne electronic counter measure system; the first aircraft reliability and maintainability information system; serving on a team for indigenisation of missile system; deputation as software consultant to Cabinet Secretariat and to the DRDO. He was deputed to IIT for doing the PG diploma in Computer Science.
He took premature retirement in 1986 and cofounded ERGO Software System Ltd. as a technical director. ERGO, the first software company to start operating from NOIDA Export zone, has products under three categories; systems software, reengineering and standard implementation – such as C Compilers, Simulators, real time Kernels. The company received the special award of the Electronics & Software Promotion Council in 1995-96.
In 1989 Mr. Raghavan started ERGO Electronics Pvt. Ltd. to design and develop DSP based applications – hardware and firmware and lists the following among its clients: NEC, NTT, SGS – Thomson Singapore and some smaller Japanese companies.
