Prof. Ajit Tamhane is currently the Senior Associate Dean of McCormick School of Engineering and Professor of Industrial Engineering & Management Sciences (IEMS) and Statistics at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. Earlier, he was Chairman of the Department of IEMS (2001- 2008).
Prof. Tamhane’s research interests are in the areas of multiple testing problems in clinical trials and design of experiments. Prof. Tamhane’s research interests are in the areas of multiple testing problems in clinical trials and design of experiments. He is the author of three books: Multiple Comparison Procedures with Yosef Hochberg, Statistics and Data Analysis with Dorothy Dunlop, and Statistical Analysis of Designed Experiments. He has edited two volumes of collected papers: Design of Experiments: Ranking and Selection with Thomas and Multiple Testing Problems in Pharmaceutical Statistics with Alex Dmitrienko and Frank Bretz. Prof. Tamhane has published over 90 papers in top journals. He has won the Youden Award for the best paper in Technometrics. He is an elected Fellow of the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics.
Prof. Ajit Tamhane is actively involved in organising FAN event and helped IIT Bombay faculty complete executive management programme at Northwestern University.
After graduation from IIT Bombay, Prof. Tamhane obtained his Ph.D. in Operations Research and Statistics from Comell University in 1975.
