Mr. Toos Daruvala

Mr. Toos N. Daruvala is a Director (Senior Partner) in the New York Office of McKinsey & Company. He has served a broad range of Financial Institutions and Information/ Transaction Service organizations, on a wide variety of issues including corporate strategy, line-of-business strategy, operational performance improvement and organization effectiveness.

Mr. Daruvala joined McKinsey & Company in 1983; he was elected Principal in 1989 and a Director in 1995. He currently leads McKinsey’s Risk Management Practice in America, and prior to that, led the Banking and Securities Practice in America. As part of his work at McKinsey, he has led client service to a range of global financial institutions.

Mr. Daruvala holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. “I have some wonderful memories of deep lifelong friendships, of swimming in Powai Lake, Mood Indigo in its early days, musical sessions and long chats over several cups of chai at IIT Bombay” he said. Mr. Daruvala fondly remembers his teachers, Prof. MS Kamath and Prof. KC Mukherjee at the Institute as well.

Mr. Daruvala serves on the Advisory Board of the Ross Business School at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is a member of the Board of the New York Philharmonic. He in addition, serves on the global Board of McKinsey & Company, and of McKinsey’s Investment Office. Mr. Daruvala has written extensively on the future of the global banking industry, and its post-crisis outlook. He has also spoken at multiple banking and risk management forums. He has moreover, contributed to numerous publications such as The Economist, Banking Strategies and the American Banker, and is a frequent speaker at industry forums such as Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA).

His hobbies includes classical music, bridge and skiing. Not many people know that he is also an instrument-rated pilot and enjoys flying on weekends.
