Mr. Suresh V. Shenoy is Executive Vice President of Information Management Consultants (IMC), Inc., a McLean, Virginia, USA, based systems integration and consulting company. Prior to joining IMC, Mr. Shenoy owned and operated several engineering companies in Massachusetts, USA.
Mr. Shenoy is an expert on Enterprise Content Management and work flow related technologies. He has chaired several committees from 1990 to 2011 including, Standards Committee accredited by NIST; Emerging Technologies Advisory Group (EMTAG) at the Association of Information and Image Management (AIIM); and International Society of Enterprise Engineers (ISEE), DC Chapter, besides serving as a Co-Chair of the BPR-SIG for the Industry Advisory Council to US Government CIO’s and National Capital Region of the American Red Cross. Currently, he serves on the Board of the Kevric Company, IMC-Global Services, Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce and the Tech America Public Sector Board. Most recently, he was appointed to the newly formed Global Enterprise Content Management Partner Advisory Council at IBM for 2014-15.
After graduating from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in Metallurgical Engineering in 1972 he did his MBA from the University of Connecticut in 1975. He fondly reminisces about his days at IIT Bombay, which were filled with good friends, sports, adventure, great hostel camaraderie and some classroom hours too! “I wouldn’t trade those days for anything else in this world. Long hours at the library, midnight jaunts to ‘Taloja’ for Biryani, bicycling to Juhu beach, late night movies…everything about the time spent at IIT Bombay is truly memorable,” Mr. Shenoy remarked. He was a founding member of the ‘Metallurgical Engineering Association’ at the Institute and organized the first-ever field trip to Goa and visited Iron ore mines, palletization plants and helped in publishing the first MEA Journal.
Mr. Shenoy’s strong association with his alma mater continues even till date. He is a founding member of the WHEELS Global Foundation – a PanIIT initiative – to promote technology enabled philanthropy to address challenges surrounding Clean Water, affordable Healthcare, Energy, Education, rural Lifestyles and Sustainability and Security. He was the Co-President of Pan IIT-USA in 2006-2007 and Chaired the Programs Committee of the Pan IIT Conference in 2005 and also the IIT Bombay Golden Jubilee Celebrations in New York in 2008.
Mr. Shenoy started his career as a Partner in an international marketing startup in 1975 – Maridyne International – a joint venture between Dynamark in Boston and Marubeni Corporation of Japan. Maridyne was among the first such companies in the United States at that time which focused on technology evaluation, technology transfer and licensing and later program management for large project implementations at over 20 countries. Maridyne was successfully sold in 1984 to National Intergroup. In 1986 after completing two years in management at National Intergroup, Mr. Shenoy purchased and operated a high precision non-ferrous metal casting business in Medfield, Massachusetts. He implemented ‘near net shape’ casting methods to reproduce several precious antiques for an 18th century church in Sudbury, Massachusetts. While operating the foundry business, Mr. Shenoy was an early adopter of personal computers and a founding member of the CP/M users group in the then nascent personal computer industry. This group was later merged with the Boston Computer Society. In 1989, Mr. Shenoy sold his foundry business to join Information Management Consultants (IMC) in Virginia – a company founded in 1981 by his brother, Mr. Sudhakar Shenoy, also a graduate of IIT Bombay and a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award of the Institute in 1997.
He has moreover, served as an adjunct professor of International Marketing and Business Administration at the Graduate School of Management, Clarke University in Worchester, Massachusetts and currently teaches a course in Entrepreneurship at the George Mason University.
Mr. Shenoy was inducted into the ‘Company of Fellows’ at the Information Management Congress in Europe in 1998 and is a recipient of the ‘Distinguished Service Award’ from AIIM International and was elected as a Fellow in 2000. He has been recognized by IBM Corporation as ‘Information Champion’ for his contributions to Enterprise Content Management technologies for four consecutive years 2009-2013 and received the Distinguished Service Award in 2008 from IIT Bombay. In 2010, Mr. Shenoy and his brother Sudhakar, were honored by the Northern Virginia Community Foundation for their leadership and contributions to Fairfax County and also received a citation for their community service from the US Congress.
He has traveled widely across Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East. Apart from travelling, Mr. Shenoy enjoys Golf, Swimming, Tennis, Badminton, Table-tennis, hiking, Cross-country skiing and Photography as well.
