Mr. Edul Minoo Daver is a prominent personality in the field of powder metallurgy who has held various management positions, rising to the position of President and Co-owner of AcuPowder International LLC, USA.
Following his B.Tech. at IITB, Mr. Daver did his M.S. from University of Wiscosin in 1967, completed his M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1977, and Owner President Management Programme from Harvard University in 1999.
He joined Alcan Powders & Pigments in the R&D and Technical areas, obtaining 3 patents along the way. Becoming Plant Manager in 1980, and President in 1988, Daver’s latent entrepreneurial vision made him proactively approach Alcan about buying the Powders division. He purchased the company in 1995, along with seven other key employees.
A new company, AcuPowder International, LLC, was a very risky, highly leveraged buyout venture, at a debt to equity ratio of 60:1. Daver, as President and CEO, implemented “Open Book Management” techniques and sharing 20% of pretax profits with all employees. The employees responded, and the results have been better than expected. The turnover of the company was over US $ 30 million in 1999.
In early 2000 an opportunity to purchase a competitor , Pyron Metal Powders, was pursued aggressively and the deal consummated in April 2000. AcuPowder now has the dominant North American market share for copper-based powders.
In 1980 Mr. Daver is also Director Metal Powder Industries Federation, and Director, World Zarathusti Chamber of Commerce, and active in IIT Bombay alumni activities. He has also taken a proactive role in safety and environmental issues.
