Mr. Dipak Himatsingka, joined India Carbon Ltd, a family managed company, which led into the creation of a new Public Ltd Company –M/s Amines and Plasticizers Ltd. He took over as Managing Director in 1974 and initiated R & D activities including development of a whole range of esters for PVC processing. Their R & D Laboratory was recognized by the DST of the Government of India. They Company had success in a variety of technical consultancy and Transfer of Technology projects.
Mr. Himatsingka retired from Amines & Plasticizers Ltd. in 2002. At present the is Chairman of Miura Infrastructure (Pvt.) Ltd., Miura Trading & Finvest (Pvt.) Ltd, & Miura Engineering Services; engaged in Metal Fabrication, Trading in Chemicals, and Project Engineering Services and Transfer of Technology.
In the beginning of the 1980’s with the cooperation of like minded alumni of the Institute Mr. Himatsingka started the Bombay Chapter of the Alumni Association. He was elected the first Chairman of the Chapter. The Chapter functioned well over a number of years, providing a platform for Alumni to network, particularly through their Mumbai Monthly meets. The origin of the Mumbai chapter can be traced to these early MMMs. Mr. Himatsingka has remained engaged with the Institute through the years and was an active member of the organizing committee of his batch’s reunion in 2012.
