Mr. Ashank Datta Desai is a M.Tech. (1974) from the Dept. of Mechanical Engg. He is currently the Chairman & Managing Director of Mastek Limited. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Bombay in the year 2002.

Mr. Desai is an invited member of the Senate of IIT Bombay. He was one of the members of the Committee involved in planning the overall Vision & Direction for IIT Bombay’s IT School – KReSIT.

He is the founder member of the newly formed Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), which manages Business Incubation Activities at IIT Bombay. He has been the most active Governing Board Member of SINE and has made significant contributions to SINE, some of them being:

1. Helped to put in place the Vision & Mission.
2. Contributed to the policy framework for the Business Incubator and SINE and participates in management & financial affairs of SINE.
3. Is easily accessible and helps SINE leverage on his industry contacts.
