After B.Tech., Mr. Madhur Kotharay did his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University and returned to India in 1991 to set up his own medical software company. Today the company has almost all big-name pharma companies as its clients.
He has been actively involved in getting his IIT B.Tech. batch together through various activities and a mailing list, first in 1987 in the USA and later on in 2003 around the world. He coordinated the 10th reunion of his batch in 1997 with a “Spirit of IIT Run”, a relay marathon from the Gateway of India to IIT Bombay. Himself an ardent marathon runner, Mr. Kotharay organizes running races called I-Race, on behalf of IIT Bombay. These races, anchored by IIT alumni, are run around the world in different cities simultaneously, and using a specialized mathematical formula the global winners are chosen.
Mr. Madhur Kotharay has also put together three special interest mailing lists/forums, viz., IIT Alumni Investor Group, IIT Alumni Runner Group and IIT Alumni Adventurer Group. Currently, these forums are abuzz with discussions and numerous activities such as investor meets, participating in running races, treks and other adventure outings such as sailing trips. Mr. Kotharay is looking forward to his batch’s Silver Jubilee Reunion in Dec. 2012.
