Mr. Deepak Digambar Thite is a Senior Software Engineer with Siemens Digital Industries Software India Pvt. Ltd. He received his B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering COE, Pune, in 1994, before he moved to Mumbai to pursue his Master’s in Thermal and Fluid Engineering from IIT Bombay in 1996. An avid musician, he received his Tabla Visharad from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in 2017.
Amongst his priceless memories of being a student at IIT Bombay includes being guided by IIT Bombay’s legendary Prof. S. P. Sukhatme for his M.Tech. Mr. Thite still remembers the ease, simplicity, and skill with which Prof. Sukhatme explained concepts to his students.
Mr. Thite also had an active life outside of the classroom. “I enjoyed playing Tabla in PAF 95 and acting in one of the Marathi plays at the Lecture Theatre. I will never forget the swimming I did for six months in a row in my third semester. Last, but not least, I enjoyed my stay at H5.”
While he has been playing the Tabla for the past 35 years, he took lessons from Pt. Nana Mulay over the past 12 years.
His other hobbies include watching films and listening to Hindi film songs. He has also completed a Film Appreciation Course from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) even as he attends the Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) every year. He is also heavily invested in social work and is a member of the Rotary Club of Pune, Karvenagar. Currently, he is the secretary of the club and will soon move up to become the President next year.
