Alumni Engagement Across North America: Strengthening Connections, Celebrating Community

IIT Bombay’s recent alumni engagements in North America have further strengthened the Institute’s ties with its global alumni network. Led by Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay, and Prof. Ravindra Gudi, Dean ACR, along with teams from the IITB Heritage Foundation (IITBHF) and the IITB Development and Relations Foundation (IITB DRF), each event showcased the collective commitment to supporting the Institute’s growth and deepening alumni connections worldwide.

Boston: Meaningful Dialogue

In Boston, alumni engaged in lively discussions with Prof. Kedare and Prof. Gudi. The evening featured thoughtful questions on IIT Bombay’s strategic roadmap, upcoming Centres of Excellence, and new ideas for staying connected and contributing to the Institute. Alumni expressed appreciation for the updates on various developments and valued the chance to interact directly with the leadership team.

Toronto: Expanding the Network

The Toronto event saw an enthusiastic turnout and strong participation from the alumni community. The evening included meaningful conversations and a strong sense of connection to IIT Bombay. A highlight was the announcement of three new IITB Alumni Association chapters in North America: the Greater Toronto Area, Calgary, and Vancouver.

Prof. Kedare and Prof. Gudi also acknowledged the alumni community whose efforts enabled IIT Bombay to secure ‘Qualified Donee’ status in Canada, as recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). This important milestone now allows contributions toward the advancement of science and technology to be eligible for tax credits and deductions under Canadian law.

Chicago: Energizing Exchange

In Chicago, Prof. Kedare and Prof. Gudi, together with colleagues from the IITBHF and IITB DRF,  engaged in an insightful and energizing exchange with the alumni community. Discussions ranged from IIT Bombay’s future vision and new Centres of Excellence to meaningful ways alumni can stay connected and contribute. The thoughtful questions and ideas shared truly reflected the strength and vibrancy of this global network.
