Mr. Rajindra Harcharan Singh is an independent investor.
After his B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay, he received his MS in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (focusing on neural networks and pattern recognition algorithms for his thesis), and his MBA from the Florida Institute of Technology.
Early in his career, he designed mission-critical large turbines for power generation, gaining a deep appreciation for the intricacies of hardcore engineering design with a built-to-last mindset. After his MBA, he transitioned into the financial services sector in New York, where he worked for several years before becoming an independent investor. He thrives on tackling interdisciplinary challenges and problems and received the Westinghouse Company awards for Quality in Engineering Design.
Speaking about his memories of IIT Bombay, Mr. Singh says he is deeply inspired by his seniors and colleagues and awed by their talents.
Mr. Singh is also an active volunteer based in the tri-state New York area and a past President of the Greater NY Chapter.
He is also deeply passionate about hands-on problem-solving, teamwork, and community service. Over the years, Mr. Singh has spent many summers on his family farm and visited rural India growing up, although his schools and colleges were in Mumbai and USA. “This early connection with rural India, smaller towns, and a major metropolis along with the IIT experience provided different perspectives. Having personally experienced an enormous diversity of culture, lifestyle, and educational opportunities, it is becoming useful in terms of appreciation of issues and problem-solving,” he says.
In his free time, he enjoys reading, driving his cars, working with machine tools, and coding, while continually expanding his skills and knowledge – but not necessarily at the same time.
