Mr. Shah holds a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay (1985) and has earned various certificates from MIT, Harvard, and technology companies. He focuses on technology risks related to advances in Cybersecurity and AI.

His journey in volunteering began with connecting alumni to relive their best moments, which quickly evolved into leveraging professional experiences to advance STEM education in the local community through mentoring, coaching, and counseling. He is also actively involved in connecting with IIT graduates coming to Boston for their studies or careers. Additionally, he collaborates with Boston-area universities like MIT, Harvard, and Tufts to advance research and innovation within the IIT Bombay academic world. He is passionate about finding opportunities to collaborate with the corporate world to further the IIT Bombay ecosystem in emerging areas such as AI, Space, Healthcare, and Cybersecurity to realize the “Make in India” dream.

Speaking about his memories of IIT Bombay, Mr. Shah reflects,

Hobbies: Photography, travel, and experimenting with food recipes to blend Indian flavours into international dishes.

Motivation towards contribution to IIT Bombay

“I always believe in giving back. Specific to the IITB chapter in Boston, it started by connecting with the alumni to relive the best moments of our life, which quickly evolved into leveraging our professional experience to advance STEM education among the local community through mentoring, coaching, and counselling, as well as connecting with the IIT graduates who come to Boston for their graduate studies or careers. Additionally, I’m excited every time we host visiting IITB faculty, organize networking events for alumni, and collaborate with Boston-area universities, such as MIT, Harvard, and Tufts, to advance research and innovation in the academic world of IITB. Finally, I love finding opportunities to collaborate with the corporate world to further advance IITB ecosystem in emerging areas such as AI, Space, Healthcare and Cybersecurity to realize the dream of “Make in India”.

Special Memories

“The events, incidents, and life experiences during my 5 years at IIT in many ways has made me the person I am today. Living at the Lady of the Lake, meeting students from different walks of life, making trips to the Y point for late night snacks and having philosophical conversations with hostel mates about the meaning of life... is something that cannot be replicated ever.” He also fondly recalls the “scary yet crazy memory” of living in harmony with nature—snakes in the hallways and monkeys feasting on calculators—as well as organizing “Prerna” during Mood Indigo.
