IIT Bombay Holds Spring Session of 64th Convocation

IIT Bombay held the Spring Session of its 64th Convocation on campus and conferred degrees on students who completed their academic requirements between August 2025 and February 2026. A total of 430 degrees were awarded during the ceremony, including 269 PhD degrees and 161 degrees across other academic programmes, including 44 Executive MBA (E-MBA) degrees.
The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Sharad Kumar Saraf, Officiating Chairperson of the Board of Governors, while degrees were formally conferred by Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay. Mr. Motilal Oswal, CEO and Co-founder of Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd., attended the ceremony as Chief Guest. The Spring Session enables students who complete their academic requirements mid-year to receive their degrees ahead of the main convocation ceremony, allowing them to pursue career opportunities and further academic endeavours without delay.

Prof. Shireesh Kedare Delivers Keynote at The Economic Times TechEDU India Summit 2026

Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay, delivered the keynote address during The Economic Times TechEDU India Summit 2026 at NESCO, Mumbai. Prof. Kedare emphasised that digital transformation must transcend access and infrastructure to fundamentally reimagine pedagogy itself. While AI and digital tools can enable personalisation, contextualisation, and learning in Indian languages and dialects, he cautioned against surface-level integration.

IIT Bombay hosted a high-level delegation from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), USA, as part of the academic engagements aimed at advancing the proposed IITB–UIUC Undergraduate Exchange Programme. IIT Bombay has signed an MoU with the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH). Coming on the heels of the successful completion of CCRH’s first project, which notably resulted in a granted patent, the MoU reinforces the ongoing commitment of both institutions to validating homoeopathic interventions through cutting-edge technological parameters and advanced scientific research.

IIT Bombay Hosts High-Level Delegation from Canada

IIT Bombay hosted a high-level delegation from Canada on campus. The visit was led by the Honourable Minister of International Trade, Mr. Maninder Sidhu, P.C., M.P. The delegation met senior dignitaries from the Institute, even as discussions focused on strengthening partnerships with existing Canadian university collaborators and identifying active partners to deepen engagement. Key research themes included applications of AI & ML across sectors, health tech innovation, and other emerging areas of strategic importance.

IIT Bombay Inaugurates New Office for the Dean, International Affairs

Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay, inaugurated the new office of the Dean (International Relations) at the Rahul Bajaj Technology Innovation Centre on campus. On the occasion, Prof. Kedare also formally launched their new website and highlighted the importance of leveraging the newly available infrastructure and digital initiatives to further streamline collaborative processes and enhance global partnerships.
