IIT Bombay Hosts Second Post-Graduate Reunion and Department Conclaves

26 Mar 2026

IIT Bombay hosted the second edition of the annual Post Graduate Reunion 2026 by welcoming postgraduate alumni back to the campus where their research journeys began.

In his call for leadership in research, Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay, said, “India is already among the top five globally in several technology domains. The next goal is to move into the top two.”

Reflecting on how career paths have evolved from earlier generations to today’s students, Deputy Director (FIA), Prof. Ravindra Gudi, observed that “a career of a lifetime is increasingly becoming a lifetime of careers.”

Prof. Milind Atrey, Deputy Director (ART), highlighted the strength of IIT Bombay’s research ecosystem. He shared that nearly 80% of postgraduate alumni continue to work in their core specialisation areas, even as they remain deeply connected to their domains and contribute to research and innovation across sectors.

Prof. Upendra Bhandarkar, Dean ACR, stressed the importance of sustaining these connections and emphasised the Institute’s growing focus on engaging postgraduate alumni and invited them to stay connected with IIT Bombay’s evolving research and innovation ecosystem.

This year’s reunion also introduced Department Conclaves, bringing together alumni, faculty, and students from Mechanical, Civil, Chemistry, Chemical, Earth Sciences, and MEMS to exchange ideas, revisit laboratories where research journeys began, and engage with student innovations.

Alumni across departments shared that it was great to be back on campus, reconnect with batchmates and faculty, and engage with the next generation of researchers. More than a reunion, the gathering reflected the enduring strength of IIT Bombay’s postgraduate community, continuing to shape research, technology, and innovation in India and globally.
