SCAN Celebrates 3rd Anniversary with Annual Symposium

To commemorate its third anniversary, IIT Bombay’s Sunita Sanghi Centre of Ageing and Neurodegenerative Diseases (SCAN) organised its Annual Symposium with the theme being Neurodegenerative Disorders in India: Current Practices and Challenges.

The global population aged 60 years and above is projected to double by 2050, reaching over 2 billion. In India, the elderly population is expected to increase from the current 10% to nearly 20% in the coming decades. This rapid demographic transition poses significant challenges, particularly with respect to age-related neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Dementia and Parkinson’s disease. It’s within this context that the symposium aimed to enhance understanding of the pathology of neurodegenerative diseases, their biomarkers, underlying mechanisms, and ongoing research initiatives at leading institutions nationwide.

The symposium was inaugurated by Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay, and was attended by several dignitaries from IIT Bombay, eminent clinicians, and distinguished professors from across the country.

SBI Foundation Hub for Data Science and Analytics at C-MInDS Develop Template Constrained Decoding (TeCoD)

Can AI be trusted to answer questions from bank databases consistently? Current AI systems often return different or incorrect answers to the same question, posing serious trust challenges in high-stakes sectors such as banking. As part of the SBI Foundation Hub for Data Science and Analytics at C-MInDS, Prof. Sunita Sarawagi and her team have developed Template Constrained Decoding (TeCoD), a solution that ensures AI reuses verified query templates for recurring business questions.

The result? An AI system that becomes more accurate, consistent, and safer to use over time.
