IITB and HDFC Ergo Inaugurate HE-IITB Innovation Lab

IIT Bombay formally inaugurated the HDFC ERGO General Insurance – IITB (HE-IITB) Innovation Lab at its newly dedicated space at the Rahul Bajaj Technology Innovation Centre (RBTIC), IIT Bombay.

Launched in 2021, the HE-IITB Innovation Lab enters its next phase of growth with this move. The Lab has been a hub of cutting-edge research, fostering ideation, enabling scalable innovation, and strengthening industry-academia collaboration to address societal challenges. The Lab is going beyond insurance to fund and develop solutions for real-life issues such as needleless drug delivery systems, urban flood monitoring, and mental health platforms. This is a key milestone in the Lab’s efforts to accelerate innovation from campus to industry.

IIT Bombay has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rolls-Royce India to foster industry-academic collaboration, enable upskilling and knowledge exchange, and explore joint project opportunities. As part of this partnership, M.Tech. students at IIT Bombay will have access to internship opportunities with Rolls-Royce.

Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) at IIT Bombay Signs MoU with Bajaj Electricals to Advance AI-Driven Smart Lighting

The Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) at IIT Bombay has entered into an MoU with Bajaj Electricals for IoT & IoE to jointly advance the development of smart lighting technologies through the “Smart Streetlight Control” project. By combining Bajaj’s long-standing experience in implementing large-scale lighting infrastructure with TIH’s research capabilities in electronics, communication networks, and AI/ML, the partnership aims to build intelligent, energy-conscious lighting systems that contribute to India’s Smart City initiatives and broader national missions, including Digital India and Make in India.
