IIT Bombay recently inaugurated its Liquid Helium Plant, a landmark facility made possible through the Institute of Eminence (IoE) initiative, supporting cutting-edge research in cryogenic engineering, superconductivity, quantum computing and sensing, photonics, healthcare, space exploration, green energy, and superconducting devices.
The Institute was delighted to welcome the Honourable Union Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh, who dedicated the facility to the nation. The facility will reduce dependence on foreign helium sources, lower the cost of cryogenic experiments to one-tenth current levels, and substantially support the expanding research portfolio in the domains mentioned above. The facility is now open to industry, academia, and R&D institutions.
