IIT Bombay’s Prof. Amitava De Honoured with Prestigious AWS Fellow Award

Prof. Amitava De, Institute Chair Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Bombay, and former Dean of Academic Programmes, has been selected as a recipient of the American Welding Society (AWS) Fellow Award for the Class of 2025.

The award was conferred on him at the McCormick Place Convention Centre, Chicago, Illinois, during the AWS International Welding Conference (FABTECH). Considered a notable international distinction in the field of welding and materials joining, the AWS Fellow Award recognizes outstanding contributions to science and technology in this domain.

Prof. De, a Fellow of INAE, IEI, and AWS, described the recognition as a humbling honour and an important milestone in his career at IIT Bombay.

Prof. Ruchi Anand Elected Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS)

Prof. Ruchi Anand has been elected as a Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). Prof. Anand dedicated this honour to IIT Bombay, acknowledging the Institute’s continuous support over the years through funding, resources, and infrastructure development. She especially highlighted the role of the Dean R&D Office for its tireless management of research grants and the establishment of key facilities such as the Cryo-EM facility, which have been instrumental in advancing her research.
