IIT Bombay Shines in NIRF 2025 Rankings

The Hon’ble Union Minister of Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, announced the results of the 10th edition of NIRF 2025. Launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Education (then Ministry of Human Resource Development), the NIRF has emerged as a benchmark for assessing the quality of higher educational institutions in India. The parameters used for NIRF rankings include Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practice, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Peer Perception.

IIT Bombay reaffirmed its position among India’s top institutions, securing the following rankings in 2025:

  • 3rd in the Overall category (Score: 81.62)
  • 2nd in ‘Innovation (Score: 81.62)
  • 3rd in Engineering (Score: 83.65)
  • 4th in Research (Score: 77.80)
  • 14th in  Management

 

Commenting on the Institute’s performance, Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay, said, “We are happy to maintain our strong performance in the NIRF Rankings. They are an important nationwide process of assessment and benchmarking. At the same time, it reminds us that all of us must continue to work collectively to strengthen India’s education system. The competition among institutions is healthy, as it encourages us to raise our standards and contribute more effectively to the nation’s growth.”
