Institute Valedictory Function (Valfi) 2025: A Night of Celebration and Farewell

Every IIT Bombay graduate remembers their Valfi — that unforgettable rite of passage filled with laughter, emotion, and memories that linger long after the last group photo is taken. This cherished tradition continued with Valfi 2025, a joyful and poignant celebration for the graduating class.

Valfi has long been a moment where students, faculty, and alumni come together to celebrate the journey and the promise of what’s next. Joining Valfi 2025 were Prof. Shiereesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay, Prof. Ravindra Gudi, Dean ACR, faculty members, alumni, and students — all part of the vibrant IIT Bombay community.

The evening began with heartfelt addresses from the Institute’s leadership. In his message to the Class of 2025, Director Prof. Shireesh Kedare said, “You are now ambassadors of IIT Bombay’s legacy of excellence in science, technology, and beyond. Whether your path leads you to research labs, start-ups, design studios, policy think tanks, non-profits, or boardrooms, carry with you the values, discipline, and sense of purpose that this Institute has instilled in you. For you will now help shape the way the world sees your beloved Institute, which will now become your cherished alma mater.”

Prof. Kedare then reminded students of the legacy they carry forward and said, “So go out there — build, imagine, disrupt, lead. The road ahead is yours to shape, and we are excited to see how far you will go and take us with you.”

As part of a proud Valfi tradition, two distinguished alumni were invited to deliver keynote speeches. Mr. Aniket Deb (B.Tech.+ M.Tech. Dual Degree, Chemical Engineering, 2013), co-founder of Bizongo. a pioneering B2B platform valued close to a billion dollars, reflected on his journey from campus to co-founding one of India’s most dynamic tech startups. Featured on Fortune’s 40 Under 40 and Forbes 30 Under 30, Mr Deb shared his belief in using technology to fuel India’s progress.

Ms. Shreya Mishra (B.Tech.+ M.Tech. Dual Degree, Mechanical Engineering, 2012), co-founder of SolarSquare Energy, spoke next. A sustainability champion recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine’s 35 Under 35 and Forbes Asia’s 30 Under 30, Ms. Mishra inspired the graduating class with stories of purpose, resilience, and ambition.

The evening wrapped up with energetic student performances, the beloved T-shirt grafting ritual, and a celebratory dinner under the stars — a perfect ending to this chapter of campus life.
