Team RISCB from IIT Bombay secured the top prize in the Digital Design Hackathon, a key event under the “Chips to Start-up” (C2S) Programme. This victory not only highlights the Institute’s leadership in advancing chip design innovation but also marks a significant milestone in India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
The C2S initiative, led by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), aims to strengthen India’s semiconductor capabilities by cultivating a new generation of engineers specializing in chip design. With support from industry leaders like AMD, Synopsys, and CoreEL Technologies, over 200 innovators and 40 elite teams competed to develop real-world solutions focused on LIVE image processing on FPGA hardware and optimizing complex voltage regulator circuits.
Shri. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Electronics and IT, lauded the contributions of IIT Bombay and other prestigious academic institutions across the nation. The hackathons played a crucial role in advancing the technical expertise necessary to drive India’s semiconductor industry forward.
This collaboration between MeitY, IIT Bombay, and other key institutions is pivotal in building a robust chip design ecosystem in India. Looking ahead, the establishment of the ChipIN Centre at C-DAC, one of India’s largest centralized chip design facilities, underscores the nation’s commitment to advancing semiconductor research and development. Through initiatives like C2S, IIT Bombay continues to play an integral role in shaping the future of India’s semiconductor industry.
